Buddy Playtime - First Graders Writing Personal Narratives

Take a look as Avery and Everett reflect on their writing journey and share the stories they created during Buddy Playtime! Ms. McGinness' first graders at Bowman Primary School have been working hard writing personal narratives. Students worked on their story plan and then wrote stories about experiences they have had. Their personal narratives are titled, "Buddy Playtime."
Ms. McGinness paired students up with a buddy and they were able to choose an activity to play with for 10 minutes. Next, they discussed how and what they wanted to do with their activity. Then, they went back to their seats to do their story plan independently. The next day students used their story plan to write their own personal narratives.
By using their story plans, all learners were set up for success in writing while having fun. The following day students were able to share their personal stories with other classmates.
