Investments in Learning

Mar 6, 2026

Learning. Practicing. Problem-solving. Growing. This is what your investment looks like in Lebanon City Schools. Real students building real skills through meaningful opportunities.

Here is that work in action in six different classrooms across the district:

Zoology at Lebanon High School

ZOOLOGY AT LEBANON HIGH SCHOOL - “Teaching zoology allows me to enjoy watching students be as amazed as I am at all the groups in the animal kingdom. It puts me in their seat every day,” said Josh Hannah, teacher. In this class, students explore how animals have evolved and are classified into major groups. In this photo, students are conducting a squid dissection.

STEM at Berry Intermediate

STEM AT BERRY INTERMEDIATE - In Lebanon City Schools’ STEM classrooms, students learn by doing, building, and problem-solving. At Berry Intermediate School, hands-on activities and projects connect science, technology, engineering, and math in real-world ways - helping students become curious thinkers and problem-solvers. In this photo, a student uses a Van de Graaff generator. The device builds up static electricity, causing the student’s hair to stand on end!

Visual and Music Communications at LHS

VISUAL & MUSIC COMMUNICATIONS AT LHS - In this class, also known as Drake Road Productions, students produce the morning video announcements. They learn studio skills like camerawork, video editing, and green screen production. Students also collaborate as a creative team - writing, filming, and acting in features, interviews, and skits. In this photo, students edit footage for an upcoming show. "I love working with Drake Road Productions students because it is a really unique space for creative kids to develop shows and events that the whole student body can enjoy. The films and music that these students make are student curated, and the events are authentically by-students, for-students. Getting to help these innovating and imaginative students find their creative voice and get these exciting projects across the finish line every day is a privilege not found at most high schools," said Will Kuhn, teacher.

Orchestra at Berry Intermediate

ORCHESTRA AT BERRY INTERMEDIATE - In Orchestra, offered in grades 6-12, students focus on developing and expanding foundational skills, including tone quality, bowing techniques, music reading, rhythm, and technical proficiency. Concert orchestras perform at least three concerts each year and may also participate in community performances. In this photo, students in 6th grade orchestra play their instruments in class at Berry Intermediate.

Music at Donovan Elementary

MUSIC AT DONOVAN ELEMENTARY - “I teach music because it’s where creativity, courage, and joy meet in one beautiful moment. The best part of my job is watching students realize they are capable of creating something amazing,” said Keri Betley, teacher. In third and fourth grades, students learn to create, perform, respond to, and connect with music. They build skills in reading music and understanding elements like beat, rhythm, tempo, pitch, and melody. In this photo, students practice playing recorders.

Art Class at Lebanon Junior High

ART CLASS AT LEBANON JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL - “I love teaching art because the art room gives students a space to discover who they are, take creative risks, and build confidence in their ideas. There’s nothing better than watching a student realize they are capable of creating something meaningful and uniquely their own,” said Madison Taylor, teacher. In this photo, students work on individual art pieces - building confidence, patience, focus, and attention to detail with each stroke.
