Parent Input Needed - Ohio's Safe Routes to School Program

Posted on: November 18, 2021

We need your help! The City of Lebanon, Lebanon City Schools, and St. Francis DeSales School are partnering to prepare a school travel plan under the guidelines of Ohio’s Safe Routes to School program. The school travel plan will outline our community’s intentions for enabling students to safely walk or bike to and from school. Once complete, the school travel plan will qualify our community to apply for funding to implement infrastructure improvements and/or to implement various strategies to improve conditions for students walking or biking to school.

One of the required components of the plan is to gather parents’ thoughts about children walking and biking to school.  As a result, we would very much appreciate your assistance in responding to a brief survey that is expected to take approximately five to ten minutes to complete.  The survey can be completed anytime between now and Friday, November 19th.  A link to the survey is provided here:  Parent Survey.  Instructions are provided within the survey.  Please be sure to select “Lebanon City School D 08” in the drop-down menu under “School District”.

One planned improvement by the City that could benefit from Safe Routes to School funding is the construction of a shared-use path along the west side of North Broadway Street from the Warren County Fairgrounds to Miller Road.  The new path will replace the existing sidewalk on the west side of the road as well as the existing on-street bike lanes.  The existing and proposed roadway sections are illustrated below:
