Student Fees

Student Fees

Lebanon City Schools works to keep student fees clear, reasonable, and connected to student learning.

Student fees help cover certain materials, supplies, and resources that students use during the school year. Depending on the grade level, course, or activity, fees may support consumable classroom materials, workbooks, art or lab supplies, activity-related items, or replacement costs for lost or damaged District property.

Each year, student fees are reviewed and approved by the Lebanon Board of Education. The funds collected are tracked separately in the appropriate student fee fund under Ohio’s school accounting system. This helps ensure the money is used for the student-related purpose for which it was collected.

Families with questions about a specific fee should contact their child’s school office. Families who need help with student fees are encouraged to reach out so we can discuss available options.

What Families Ask About Student Fees

Can student fee money be transferred to another District fund?

No. Per Ohio law, student fee money cannot simply be moved into another District fund for unrelated use. For families, this means student fee dollars are treated differently than general tax dollars. They are collected, tracked, and spent ONLY for the student-related purpose connected to the fee.

Are textbooks included in student fees?

No. Ohio law requires necessary textbooks and electronic textbooks to be furnished without charge. Student fees are generally connected to other materials used in a course of instruction, such as consumable materials or course-specific supplies.

What if a family needs help paying student fees?

Lebanon City Schools understands that fees can create a financial burden for some families. Families who need assistance should contact their child’s school office or the Treasurer’s Office to ask about available options or payment arrangements.

Also, Ohio law includes protections related to fees for students who qualify for free lunch and for certain students involved in abuse, neglect, or dependency proceedings.
